I first met Steve at Columbia University, where we were both enrolled in a computer network program.

Steve was always sharing his knowledge about networks and computers with everyone in
our class - I remember once we had a study group before an exam, and Steve was able to explain a difficult topic to
our group more clearly than our instructor.

After Steve recommended me for a position at Aon, I was saw that Steve's quest for
knowledge was never-ending - he always tried to learn something new each day, and
usually, when he found a new shortcut or network tip, he shared it with everyone in
our department.

I remember him telling us after one of his informal classes - "try to learn at least one new thing each day."

I took this advice to heart, and see now that Steve was trying to make us improve ourselves -
to reach beyond a daily routine and become a little more knowledgable each day.

He also had a great way of encouraging me to try my best.

After making a mistake one day when I had just started at Aon, Steve took me aside and said,
"You are not always going to hit a home run, but I want you to give it your best shot."
I thought that this was a great way to reassure me, without worrying so much about mistakes.

I'd just like to say that I am always going to try a little harder in whatever challenges I face in my life,
because of what Steve said, and because of the example he set.

The world is a poorer place without Steve, but I am richer for having known him.
